Tips & strategies answering English Language Paper (UPSR ) – PAPER 2

QUESTION 1

Study the picture carefully.
Get to know where it taken place.
Write in BM if you know the meaning of the words.
List down all the subject ( people , animal ) , verbs , noun ( things , etc).
Make sure the subject is relevant to the verbs.
You also can circle the verbs.
Start construct your sentences.
Check tenses , spelling , punctuation.


Example :

EXAMPLE 1 - ( 9-10 MARKS ) Excellent and confident use of language.

En. Aziz and his family is having picnic at the beautiful park.
They are sitting under a big shady tree.
En. Aziz is drinking a glass of water while chatting with his family.
His wife is putting some food into the plate by using a ladle.
His daughter is eating her favourite food using a spoon.
His son is watching the scenery of the park and enjoying the fresh air.



EXAMPLE 2 - ( 5-8 MARKS ) Confident use of language throughout.

The man is drinking a glass of water.      
The man is holding a glass.
The woman is putting some food into the plate.
The boy is sitting on the mat.
All of them are sitting under a big tree.
The shoes is behind of the man.
All the food is on the mat.

VOCABULARY
10 multiple choice questions

• Word level : Question 1 - 4 ( 4 questions )

Test on social expressions used in various situations.

3 to 4 responses given in a list as options
Types of situations / responses
1- greetings
2- introducing oneself / others
3- requesting objects
4- telephone conversations
5- other social expressions

TIPS & HINTS

·         You are advised to spend only 5–10minutes (suggestion).
·         Make sure you read through all the options.
·         Choose the most suitable response from the list given.
·         Answer all the easy questions first. Then go back to the difficult questions.
·         Do not waste time. Cross out the options, one by one, until you get the correct answer.
·         Look at the people in the pictures and what they are doing to get clues.


SECTION C
GRAMMAR

10 multiple-choice questions
Test pupil’s knowledge and understanding in grammar, spelling and punctuation.

• Grammar : Question 16  – 21 ( 6 questions )
Test pupil’s knowledge and understanding in grammar.

• Punctuation : Question 22  – 23 ( 2 questions )
Test pupil’s knowledge and understanding in punctuation.

·         Read the question carefully.
·         Study the picture carefully (if given).
·         Spend 2 – 3 minutes for each question.
·         Instead finding the answer, find errors for each option given first.
·         Underlined the errors.
·         Mark (X) if you find the option is wrong.
·         Choose/circle the best answer.

Don’t lose marks (2 marks) for these questions.
Level of question : Easy, moderate.



• Spelling : Question 24  – 25 ( 2 questions )
Test pupil’s knowledge and understanding in spelling.

SECTION E
COMPREHENSION

2 passages oflinear and non-linear texts.
5 multiple choice questions are set for each passage.
Multiple choice questions (comprehension questions)


·         Divide the passage accordingly to their paragraph.
·         Draw line to separate them.
·         Read the questions first.
·         Skim and scan the passage to find the answer.
·         No need to go through all the passage.
·         First 3 questions always referring to first, second and third paragraph.
·         Look at the bolded words
